Do y’all ever go through life wondering when God is finally going to start listening to your prayers about a dream you’ve been thinking about for what feels like forever?
Y’all, I honestly thought I would never get to where my life has turned within the past twenty-four hours. From hearing my mother-in-law is back in the hospital with multiple infections, to feeling more impatient than ever in finding out our baby’s gender, to everything in between, I never thought the frustrations of waiting were going to end!
But let me tell you a little secret: consistent prayer is just what Jesus is looking for.
Then, teaching them more about prayer, he used this story: “Suppose you went to a friend’s house at midnight, wanting to borrow three loaves of bread. You say to him, ‘A friend of mine has just arrived for a visit, and I have nothing for him to eat.’ And suppose he calls out from his bedroom, ‘Don’t bother me. The door is locked for the night, and my family and I are all in bed. I can’t help you.’ But I tell you this—though he won’t do it for friendship’s sake, if you keep knocking long enough, he will get up and give you whatever you need because of your shameless persistence. “And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.
Luke 11:5-10 (NLT)
I love this story because it shows Jesus’ heart for hearing and understanding us. I believe that if God puts an idea in your mind and doesn’t lead you in another direction, He put it there for a reason.
Over the years I’ve learned if He begins to close doors, it might be a sign that this direction may not be the best path for me. No matter how hard I try, I am met with more and more push-back, uncertainty, and frustration. It often feels like I keep running into a brick wall that looks like a doorway!
Friends, it’s been a long time coming; and when I say long, I mean loooooonnnggg!
Starting in 2017, I believe God put in me a calling to connect fashion with the Gospel. I have been interested in fashion for quite some time, but never really knew what to do about it. I knew God was calling me to share my faith with others, but I wasn’t sure how to connect the two together!
And, if I’m being honest, I never really thought I was good enough to get into fashion blogging. Social media is great at convincing you you’re not the stereotypical cover-girl with the beautiful hair, perfect makeup, and unending wardrobe, am I right?
As I watched my Instagram and Pinterest accounts slowly grow, I began to learn that one of the largest influencer communities connects through an app called LIKEtoKNOW.it. There, followers and account holders alike can find inspiration for fashion, family, lifestyle, home, beauty and a bunch of other topics!
It’s been a dream of mine to be accepted into this community, but if I’m being honest, it’s pretty stinking difficult to get into! You have to have a certain number of followers, be able to prove that your audience has a large enough reach, and you have to remain active on social media at all times.
Although I’ve been trying to work on my growth for the past couple of years, it hasn’t been because I wanted to gain a larger following just because I dreamed of being an Influencer. I want to spread Jesus’ love with people from all over the globe, and to be able to impact people I normally wouldn’t talk to!
As of about 6:30PM last night, I received the most incredible email in the world: I was accepted into the LIKEtoKNOW.it community as an Influencer.
One of the great things I love about LIKEtoKNOW.it is because of the insanely large audience it attracts, I can reach an even bigger population both with fashion and the Gospel!
My point in sharing this with you is this: keep asking, friends. Keep knocking on that door. Keep asking, because God is faithful and true in answering your prayers. He sees your heart and where you want to go in life. He loves you and wants what’s best for you and what will give Him glory!
With this new chapter, I will be starting a fashion blog that is a spin-off from this one called Mochas & Moccasins! The website is not live yet, but as soon as it is, I will let you know! You can also text me personally or comment below if you want to sign up for my email chain, where I’ll be sharing updates about this exciting new venture!
The goal of Mochas & Moccasins is to keep my fashion and beauty advice separate from sharing my nitty-gritty faith details simply because not everyone is up for that, and that’s okay! Don’t worry though, I’ll still be posting regularly on both, and both websites will be combined on my Instagram and Pinterest feeds!
Thank you all so much for all your support with everything; I am stoked to start this new journey and see where God leads!
